Curbed Chicago: Construction Begins on Building Set to Alter Chicago’s Skyline

One Grant Park is expected to open in 2019.

There’s a new skyscraper set to take over the southern part of Chicago’s skyline: One Grant Park. Curbed Chicago notes that construction has officially started on the 800-plus-foot, 792-unit rental building.

Preparations for the One Grant Park first began last year. And while it hasn’t been confirmed, the new building is expected to have 76 stories in addition to four mechanical floors and a decorative crown. One Grant Park is located at the corner of Roosevelt and Indiana in the South Loop. The project is being designed by architect Rafael Viñoly for Florida-based developer Crescent Heights.

One Grant Park is expected to officially make its debut in 2019. It’s also possible that a taller twin tower will be built directly to its west down the line.
